Sweat Therapy

Saunatimes is pleased to announce that Stephen Colmont has joined our team of contributors.  Stephen comes to us with a kindred spirit towards the authentic sauna experience.  He first learned about the therapeutic use of sweat procedures while working as a psychotherapist on the Navajo Nation in the 1990s. He then began studying sweat rituals used around the world and made “Sweat Therapy” the topic of his doctoral dissertation. His early work on sweat therapy was reported on in the July/August 2004 edition of Men’s Health in an article titled, “Top 20 Ways to Reclaim Your Life”.

Today, he is a licensed psychologist with more than 15 years clinical experience that has led him to several research projects.  Stephen has published multiple articles in scientific journals and facilitated numerous national presentations on sweat therapy.  He recently published the ebook, Sweat Therapy: A Guide to Greater Well-Being available here for download.
