I have a quick update on our sauna for you and the rest of the tribe. After hosting several sauna gatherings, it became a recurring comment that our new sauna needed a guard rail between the benches and the stove. If it were left to me, I would have cobbled together a couple of cedar two-by-fours and called it good. Thankfully, the guy who built our sauna is a true craftsman.  He asked my wife and me what we had in mind and we told him to go with whatever he thought would work. A couple weeks later we arrived at the lake to find a floor to ceiling post supporting a great looking rail that blends beautify with the hot room. It’s possible that my enthusiasm for sauna wears thin on our friends, as I keep dragging them inside every time we tweak something, but I can’t help myself. I’m hooked! Cheers, my friend, and close the damn door!!

Might make for a good foot rest too.
A nice guard, but I think the water tank in itself protects from serious burns. My concern would be guarding against a fall on the Kuuma stove door or front of the stove as you enter the bench area.
