Authentic sauna defined

Photo067Love how the adjective “authentic” gets thrown around describing the noun “sauna.”

From the mail bag:

“In Finland, saunas are typically constructed with indigenous woods, which don’t include anything resembling Western Red Cedar. North Americans may be surprised by the fact, but are mislead by sales adds for “authentic” products which are promoted by loosely translated descriptions of a culture that they do not understand.Traditional home made saunas, built with local woods and heated by wood stoves, would be considered “authentic” or “Finnish” and not every other industry related gadget that is for sale on the planet.”
