Minneapolis, Minnesota March 1, 2017.
Minneapolis/St. Paul community leaders dreamers are reportedly meeting behind closed doors reviewing a short list of locations and funding sources for the construction of Sauna Village, a comprehensive recreational center that promotes health and wellness, a celebration of our robust winter climate, and a place to share our warm, welcoming community spirit.
Tens of thousands of people from all over the world will be converging on the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for Super Bowl 52.  As Minnesota is home to myrid Scandinavian immigrants and over 10,000 lakes, progressive community leaders dreamers are recognizing that there is no better time than January 2018 to showcase our Bold North than with “Sauna Village” as part of Super Bowl 52.  Further, there are so many wonderful natural places within our “City of Lakes” that folks are finding it hard to narrow down a list of possible locations.
Saunatimes will keep all sauna enthusiasts informed of this exciting, groundbreaking opportunity. Â Super Bowl 52 is an opportunity to showcase our cultural history, community, health and wellness, and provide an awesome time for all!

Separate Sauna buildings create a village atmosphere. Â Cold plunge provides a community gathering space for cool down sessions outside in nature..

Native rock, trees, and other natural elements weave their way through the sauna buildings, which not only give a strong nod to Minnesota’s fabulous natural landscapes. like the Federally protected Boundary Waters Canoe Area, but natural elements help sauna bathers relax such that as a sauna participant steps outside, closes their eyes, and takes a deep breath, they will be instantly transported to the same environment of an “Up North” cabin retreat.

There is conversation that native Minnesota white cedar may be donated for paneling hot rooms.

Whereas most Super Bowl host cities are in shadows of palm trees and surrounded by eight lane highways, organizers of Super Bowl 52 are embracing nature, our Scandinavian heritage, and health and wellness, all bundled up into one warm and wonderful package!
NOTE: Â Sauna Village was inspired by February 7, 2017 article from Architect Magazine featuring Parkhotel Jardanbad, located in the Bavarian region of Germany.
