Clarion Hotel, Helsinki Finland, offers visitors landmark lodging in luxury

Being the tallest building in Helsinki’s city center, the Clarion hotel provides guests a physical and psychological command of space. Open your blinds in the morning and you are greeted by newly arrived cruise ships, who enter silently in the night, and dock close by. We are along side the largest passenger port in Europe.

Looking down, we see walkers, bikers, scooters, trams, and, yes, cars, moving silently below, like ants going about their business. Welcome to Helsinki.

Great location, with easy transportation access

The former shipyard hub has turned this part of Helsinki into a livable vibrant residential hub. Great access to the Metro, 500 meters away, and trams #6 and #9 steps out the hotel front door. City bikes just around the corner.

Iconic onsite restaurant

The Kitchen & Table Restaurant is a Marcus Samuelson concept, best known for the Red Rooster in New York. Dishes are inspired with a cooking style from around the world with food produced from nearby, fresh local vendors. Fun Dining, shared portions, good honest cooking marketed towards the urban and young.

Relaxed service

What a great way to describe the staff at Clarion Hotel. Young friendly staff, employed by Nordic Choice Hotel, a 190 unit hotel chain, exude a human connection with their guests. I didn’t sense any sort of “corporate policy” but more casualness, as if staff members were hanging out in my backyard sharing a glass of wine.

For the sauna enthusiast, perhaps the best gem of the Clarion Hotel Helsinki is the rooftop sauna. “Clarion loves a view” and no better example than sitting in the sauna hot room, looking out through the full glass door and hot room wall, out past the outside window 25 stories above Helsinki.

Clarion Hotel, Helsinki, 25th floor sauna

If you’ve just arrived Helsinki, as was my case. I started my first full day with a memorable sauna session, all alone on the rooftop of the Clarion Hotel. Alone with my thoughts and the anticipation of what would turn out to be 50 saunas in 12 days, I was able to reset myself breathing the fresh air cooling down outside by the rooftop pool, open to the sky above.

The Clarion Hotel Helsinki is a stylish urban lodging choice. I found it a springboard to all that is great about Finland: clean, friendly, elegant, comfortable.

In Finland “everything works.” Same goes for the Clarion Hotel, Helsinki.
